Hampton was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and started his professional career when he was recruited as a seventeen-year-old guitar prodigy by the band Funkadelic, which found itself in need of a lead guitarist after original guitarist Eddie Hazel left the band. Hampton impressed Funkadelic's George Clinton by performing a note-for-note rendition of Hazel's ten-minute solo "Maggot Brain". Hampton mad...

Parliament Funkadelic - Thumpathaurus People
This is not just music but we are in the presence of the POETIC. I say that because each note is yelling, screaming, crying, and when this is played the way it needs to be you are moved into a place where love and war; death and joy are being revealed. Man I am blessed.
While this solo is technically brilliant I have always found it fundamentally different from the solos of traditional rock bands. Rather than triumphant like "The Ocean" or soaring like "Eruption," Eddie Hazen's work in the original is melancholy because it expresses the heartbreak of America's crushing of minority youth. I think this solo speaks to that sadness and makes beautiful art from a people who refuse to be ignored. Anyway my takeaway from what is one of the best guitar solos in the history of American popular music.
I saw this hot trio in the early 70's. Walsh just exploded with talent. Almost a one man band.
I saw them live years ago in Dayton Ohio
THe bass on "Runnin'" is just outstanding!
Can u imagine Eddie and jimi hooking up
Saw some epic pfunk in the 90’s, a lot of 6+ hr shows.

Was that the France national anthem at the end?
I was blessed to see Mahavishnu Orchestra 5 times in the early 70's in Socal. Stunning, every time. Stunning today!

First time I saw John was in 71 and then 73 at Carnegie hall.Your right, those shows changed my life.Thank you, it brought back memories of the beauty of the early 70's. Growing up in New York allowed us to visit venues like the Fillmore, Academy of music.and so many more. Thanks again,Peace.
Yes she it's pregnant, it's throwing hell n tornados now.. 👺
Not Cobham’s usual drum kit.
I just don't get why this guy is revered. Phrasing, ideas, tone? Nope. There's a fan of every style is all I can say. Love the drummer.
Well, now I know where Metallica sampled their intro to ‘Nothing Else Matters’ from. Funkadelic did it first and never got any credit for it! Shameful…
Jimi is listening and smoking a joint 😮🎉❤😂
Alliance ohio got tour back brother's love that 🎸
A bible of funky beauty and strength Mt favorite 🎸 recording of all time it's a blessing 🙌 and gold to my ears heart and soul 💛 ❤️ ♥️ 💖
Free yo mind yo azz will follow.
Been listening to this song since the late 70s Parliament Funkadelics did a version a radio station in Cleveland wncx 98.5 played it every Saturday night around midnight
How is this boring to anybody? This is the most exciting kind of live music.
No floor tuners ! All by ear because they were proper musicians . Different era ,nowadays everything is taken care of ,these and every other band of the time had to pay their dues on the road and win the dedication of fans through hard work and constant touring and determination .
Whenever you see the screen distort into horizontal fuzzy lines: this is a result of the lens/gate/film being subjected to extreme vibration as it is exposed to light and is trying to capture the image. It was so loud it was affecting the film in the camera....

This woman is evil ...She left her son with his face , skull and eyes crushed in for 10 years . Told him he deserved his face broken while he was on the phone with her on the hospital . Forged a bunch of fake fundraisers to profit off of his pain all the while telling him if he were to tell the truth about what she's doing he won't have anyone while he's going through what he's dealing with physically..
Just randomly thought of this. What a fun time. Wasn’t it raining? Like torrential downpour during this set ?
Funky oldheads🎸🎸
Without a doubt the best drummer ever
Gary "Diaperman" Shider RIP 🇺🇸✌️
